Goodness me!! We are busted!!
When brainstorming what to write this week, we thought about all the things happening in the world today. We decided that was definitely too overwhelming. We then headed to pinterest for some inspiration. The search came up with ideas for journaling. We thought it was a perfect idea! We are big advocates for self care and keeping a journal is a consistent suggestion when thinking of self care ideas. We also know the value of journaling. We know that writing our thoughts, feelings, and actions down in a journal allows us to craft and maintain our sense of self and solidifies our identity. It helps us reflect on our experiences and discover our authentic self.
So that's how we ended up with the above list of ideas. And that just made us tired…
We think that it is fair to say that we are all in the same position! Hamsters on a wheel trying to find the best time to hop off and have a rest. This concept is not exclusive to people with families either. It applies to young professionals, single people, couples, older people, empty nesters and the list goes on. It's hard to remember when life got so busy and full and how.
Truthfully we are a little envious of people who can stop, write a page in their journal, meditate, sit in the sun and just soak it up. But what is preventing us from doing the same? What excuses are we making up? The washing that needs to be hung out? Well you and I both know you can always just run the cycle again and no one will be the wiser. We need to pick up all the toys. Do we need to clean up the kitchen? We need to check the chooks' water. Honestly the list goes on and on!!
What if we did just stop though, hid in the walk in closet, closed our eyes for 10 minutes and took ourselves somewhere else? Would we feel a little better? Just with that little break to give our mind and body some time to rest in between all the chaos, the demands of life and all its busyness.
We are definitely going to try and take our own advice :) We have had a very very busy couple of weeks here at MHC and we have some very big and exciting weeks ahead of us. But we all know that if we do not take these little moments in time to rest, we cannot keep up with the life that we have created for ourselves.
So the sun is shining, it is going to be a beautiful winter week. We hope that you are able to find some time where you can just stop, soak up the sun, let your mind wander and your body restore. To get through another week, but to also feel a little better within yourself. We are definitely going to try and do the same!
