Dietetics and the NDIS

People with disabilities are at risk of a range of nutritional problems and therefore access to dietetic services is very important. Macquarie Health Collective Dietitians can work with clients under the NDIS to
improve their health, well-being and independence.

A Dietitian can assist individuals with the following common nutrition issues:

  • Fussy eating or self limited diets common in people with Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Undernutrition and nutrition support

  • Changes to appetite or weight due to medication

  • Vitamin or mineral deficiencies

  • Weight management, particularly when it affects mobility and ability to undertake physical therapies 

  • Meal planning and preparation, cooking, food shopping and food safety

  • Assistance and education in managing health conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, anaemia, osteoporosis and other bone problems, wound healing, depression, anxiety, food intolerances, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, diarrhoea.

multidisciplinary team including speech pathology, exercise physiology, occupational therapy and psychology to ensure the most effective management of their nutrition issues and other health problems.
