Parenting SOS
You have probably seen our announcement (if not jump onto our socials!) Rhiannon, our Clinical Psychologist, is running a three week parenting workshop series and we are so here for that!!
Here is a little information about this upcoming workshop. If you have any questions, please send us an email or contact us via our social media accounts.
My name is Dr. Rhiannon Mulcahy and I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience, of which fifteen years has been working with families to survive the rough patches that life can sometimes throw at us. Nurturing families is something that I am passionate about, but I never truly understood just how hard it was to be a parent until I became one myself. The everyday struggles of dealing with meltdowns, managing sibling arguments, and just getting out the door in the morning can be relentless.
To help parents gain new information and offer a space to reflect on what's working and what's not, I am conducting a series of parenting workshops. This workshop series includes three x 2hr sessions, conducted over the course of three consecutive weeks, aimed at parents of toddlers to pre-schoolers (approx. 3–6-year-olds).
What you can expect from the Parenting Workshop Series…
YOUR CHILD'S DEVELOPING MIND: WHAT FIRES TOGETHER WIRES TOGETHER (Thursday 23rd June 2022, 9-11am)
In recent years, we have learnt so much about the developing brain of children. This workshop is all about that development and in particular, children’s emerging social and emotional capacities, all delivered in easy-to-understand language. Practical tips for nurturing emotional growth including building resilience, teaching empathy, and managing meltdowns for the toddler to pre-school age groups are offered.
THE TIES THAT BIND US: DEVELOPING A SECURE ATTACHMENT (Thursday 30th June, 9-11am)
Does your “stuff” sometimes get in the way of how you would like to parent? The second workshop focuses on how to build a strong and secure relationship with your child. You will be introduced to a wonderful model that sheds light on the different strengths and struggles in the parent-child relationship. This workshop will help parents to reflect on their own upbringing and how this intertwines with how we relate to our children as well as practical strategies to support and promote secure relationships.
TUNING IN TO TEMPERAMENT (Thursday 7th July, 9-11am)
Have you ever wondered why your children are so different to each other? The third workshop is all about temperament. It will suit those parents who are grappling with how to relate to their strong-willed child, or alternatively to their shy, introverted child. The focus is on how to understand and support your child's social and emotional development in the context of their innate temperament, as well as reflect on your own personality and how this may be interacting, for better or worse, with your child’s temperament.
There is a maximum of 6 participants per session. Couples are strongly encouraged to participate together and are considered as one registration.
Pre-payment is required to secure your place.
