Welcome back, Christmas and Exciting News
It has been a massive few weeks here at Macquarie Health Collective! As with everyone around our region, we are coming out of our lockdown feeling a little dazed, and adjusting to our new normal, while playing catch up. It has been lovely though to see our patients return to our waiting rooms and being able to offer some face to face consultations. Our reception staff have definitely enjoyed the company and listening to the chatter of our patients while they wait for their providers. Access to health care is our main priority, and while we have enjoyed the different modes of treatment through telehealth and phone consults, having our patients back in our practices has been welcomed.
We are approaching Christmas with pace. This also means that our practice will not always have your usual doctor working, as they will be enjoying time with their families. Our advice is this, if you are needing something or will need something before Christmas, please make an appointment now. This might include things like:
Scripts
Pathology Requests
Imaging requests
Travel advice, for example vaccinations
Covid-19 advice relating to vaccinations or booster vaccinations
Please make an appointment now. It can be very difficult to get an appointment closer to Christmas. To ensure that you have everything you need over this time, please ensure that you have an appointment with your GP.
In other news, and very exciting news, we have a new Clinical Psychologist joining our team, Rhiannon Mulcahy.
Rhiannon has worked in public health and private practice settings for over 20 years. She has worked with adults, children, teenagers, families and couples experiencing a wide range of difficulties. Early in her career, Rhiannon learnt that much of what happens in the first few years of life impacts on mental health across the lifespan. This led her to develop special interest and expertise in working with families during the perinatal period. She is passionate about nurturing the mental health of new parents, both as individuals and as a couple, thereby creating the potential for improved early life experiences for children. Children who grow up in a warm, responsive and consistent caregiving environment grow up to be more resilient and experience less mental health problems. Rhiannon has trained extensively in parent-child psychotherapies informed by attachment theory.
Rhiannon works with individuals, couples and families to support them as they navigate the inevitable challenges that arise across their lives. For example, toddlers, children and teens may struggle with issues such as separation anxiety, emotion regulation, managing peer relationships, bullying, risk-taking behavior and body image concerns. Adults may struggle with parenting, managing work/life balance, dealing with grief and loss, depression and anxiety, and couple relationship difficulties. Rhiannon’s therapeutic approaches include Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness based approaches, and attachment informed therapies. She is an advocate for combining the science of the mind with common sense strategies to support emotional health.
We are very excited for Rhiannon to join our team!!
