Moustaches and our Men
It's that time of the year again! We will start the month watching our men, clean shaven, grow or attempt to grow something we have only seen in 70’s movies, on cricket players, or really, last November. However this month is one of the most important months for our men.
Moustaches and our Men
This November apart from the moustaches, we focus on our men, their health, the scary statistics and what we can be doing to help our men.
A growing number of men - around 10.8M globally are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis. Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among men. Across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of everyday with males accounting for 75% of all suicides.
This month we are going to be following along with the Movember campaign, helping provide some information that might help you or the men in your life. We might even join in and donn a moustache, watch this space.
However for now here are some statistics about our men.
Prostate Cancer
Your risk of developing prostate cancer increases with age, but that doesn’t mean it’s a disease that only affects old men. Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men worldwide.
Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
Blokes make up an average seven out of every nine suicides every single day in Australia. The number of men who die by suicide in Australia every year is nearly double the national road toll.
Testicular Cancer
Testicular cancer is the #1 cancer among young guys. Yet 62% of those who are most at risk don’t know how to check themselves.
Let’s look after our men! If they haven’t had one recently, encourage the men in your life to have a health check.
