Good bye 2021… 'What a year!'

Wow what a year! We are on the home stretch to Christmas, tying up the loose ends of 2021, because there are a lot of those! Getting ourselves ready to see family and friends that we have been disconnected from for the past 18 months, we have decorated trees, hung tinsel, hid the elf, moved the elf, thought of what else to do with the elf.. We have celebrated the end of year with work colleagues and very soon we will kiss 2021 goodbye and cross all fingers and toes that 2022 will not be the same.

Unfortunately, there is a chance it might be the same and it is likely that it will. Going into 2022 though, we feel that we are all better equipped to face adversity - we have definitely had the practice! This past year we have perfected deep breathing, the 5 minute meditation in the walk in wardrobe before the kids find you, the quick walks around the river, the zoom meetings and for some, the sharing of screens while in the zoom meetings. We have regained our agility, to think outside the box, to work in different settings, we have adapted to a different life, we have become the masters of takeaway, online ordering, shopping local, and the drive by to drop something off to a friend.

We have binged podcasts, Netflix, we have cleaned out the linen cupboards, mowed the lawns consecutively, we have repainted rooms, dreamed of holidays to distant lands and started Pinterest boards of places to go.

We have shared sadness with each other over cancelled plans, we have reassured each other that this will pass, and we have taught each other kindness and connectedness through distance. We have forgiven and grieved losses, we have shared joys and watched magical moments through a screen.

And we are still here…

We think ‘what a year’ will be the understatement of the year,  but we are hopeful, and after a very well deserved Christmas break, we will all be ready to tackle 2022.

This is our last post for the year and we would like to wish you all a very happy, safe and special Christmas surrounded by family and friends.

We cannot wait to tackle 2022 with you!!
